What a wonderful EC math book! ginis I looked through (and bought) several Early Childhood math concepts books before I started teaching, and this one was by far the best of the lot. Don't be turned off by the early '70s look of the cover and layout, the "workjobs" are excellent for teaching children math concepts. You might have to make slight modifications, but overall it is a great blueprint for excellent supplemental activities. The best part is you can make most of the games from scraps and a quick trip to the dry goods section of your grocery store! These "games," as the children in my classes have renamed them, encourage them to have fun as they learn. A must . "Wokjobs II" according to A Customer. Lorton's books are great. A true innovation. It's a hippie way to teach Math, but it works.. "Smart thinking about teaching and learning can't become outdated" according to Polly Sandenburg. Smart thinking about teaching and learning can't become outdated. In fact, many of the seemingly simple activites included in Workjobs II have been packaged and are available at significant cost. I love that Mary Baratta Lorton used found/recycled/household items for children to work with. That IS old-school.
