Suncoast said A stunning new standalone thriller by Jo Nesbo. Most people will know Jo Nesbo's books through his very popular Harry Hole series. This time Nesbo has written a standalone thriller "The Son" (Sonnen in Norwegian) which IMHO equals if not surpasses his best Harry Hole thrillers. It is a pretty long and complex read and some of the violent parts may not be to everyone's taste.Sonny Lofthus idolised his father, Ab, who was a police officer. At an . "Jo Nesbo loves writing" according to Jan D.. Having read all of bis book, it is kind of amazing that Jo Nesbo must absolutely love writing, loves to create characters you get entangled in, understand them and even then it surprises you what all of them really are made off or not.Nesbo doesn't compare with American crime authors as he is just better and more authentic and 'plotting' a device that may authors embrace and see as the key issue i. Juggling point of view between Sonny, Simon Kefas (the cop chasing him), and the various corrupt officials who risk exposure the longer Sonny is free, Nesbø thwarts our every attempt to draw conclusions about both what happened in the past and who is the least guilty among the principals. There is an element of the classic film noir Breathless at work here but with more characters of varying shades of gray whose fates hinge on numerous moving parts. The drugs are Sonny’s way of dealing with the knowled

Or that he’s serving time for other peoples’ crimes. The inmates who seek out his uncanny abilities to soothe leave his cell feeling absolved. Sonny Lofthus is a strangely charismatic and complacent young man. They don’t know or care that Sonny has a serious heroin habit—or where or how he gets his uninterrupted supply of the drug. As long as Sonny gets his dope, he’s happy to play the criminal and the prison’s in-house savior. The author of the best-selling Harry Hole series now gives us an electrifying stand-alone novel set inside Oslo’s maze of especially venal, high-level corruption. And all of them un
