Challenging but rewarding; helpful interpretive essay C. E. Stevens Of "The Republic" I will say little; what more can be said that has not been said already? Through this book, the reader is exposed to one of the greatest intellects in history, and a variety of provocative ideas that have influenced writers and thinkers for millennia. That said, it is a challenging read; also, following the logic of Plato/Socrates can be difficult at times, and there are times when it feels like not all assumptions behind the arguments are thoroughly proven. Still, even for the genera. "and find it to still be one of the best." according to DWG. I have been using Bloom's translation for years and find it to still be one of the best.. MC mike Still reading it, but so far i give it 5 stars. it goes without saying.
