Delta Foxtrot said JDM doing the best at what he did best. I just finished rereading all of John D. Macdonald's books, in chronological order. I'd unequivocally say that this is one of his best, if not the best. It is JDM at the apex of his skills. Of course the consummate storytelling is there, as it has pretty much always been. But his character development, and his conversations, show a maturity and naturalness that were often lacking in some of his earlier work. And the story itself is amazing.. Great read 46liter John D Mcdonald was the best. "Five Stars" according to Albie Mansfield. I didn't read the bookit was a gift.
