It was the sight of the sharp spire of Rouen Cathedral piercing the pre-dawn sky that gave birth to the fiction Citadel of SANCTUS. To date it has been translated into 23 languages and published in 40 countries. SANCTUS, his first novel, became an immediate bestseller. In 2007 Simon Toyne quit his job and moved to France to fulfil a long-held desire to write a thriller. . After a sleepless night crossing
Simon Toyne’s breathtaking international bestseller, Sanctus, had critics everywhere cheering, calling the author the new Dan Brown (TheDa Vinci Code) or Steve Berry (The Jefferson Key), while praising Toyne’s debut thriller as “remarkable,” “thrilling,” “provocative,” “haunting,” and “spectacular.”The adventure continues with The Key, returning readers to the dark world of a sinister religious order older than Christianity and their Vatican-like secret citadel high in the Turkish mountains—as one courageous woman must fulfill an enigmatic prophecy that could determine the ultimate fate of humankind. James Rollins, Raymond Khoury, and Chris Kuzneski fans will not want to miss this one.
Good plot, awful prose. Very intriguing plot; very poor writing. EXTREMELY poor writing. Makes you cringe when you read it, but you keep reading because you want to know what happens. Word to the wise: read the first book first! I read this second because my dad had a paperback copy and I was so confused for the first third. I went back and read the first book and realized it didn't have to be confusing. Save yourself the headache, especially given how much you're going to want to beat your head into a wall after reading the author's metaphors.. Read Sanctus (Book 1) first Good reading. Must read Book 1 to understand the story.. A Worthy Successor to Sanctus In his debut novel, Sanctus, author Simon Toyne thrilled audiences with his high concept, religious conspiracy thriller. The dazzling story continues in The Key, the next novel in his planned trilogy. The novel opens days after the events of the previous book. After her brother's strange death captured the attention of the world, Liv Adamsen finds herself in a hospital bed, unable to fully remember the events that brought her there. She can vaguely remember entering the secretive religious Citadel located in Ruin, but has no clue how she ended up in the hospital. Eve
