Another good book from Jill Tomlinson Caroline F. Thorn My 6 year old is a prolific reader. We have read several of the animal books by Jill Tomlinson and while they all are about animals they don't have that same kind of formula story that other early chapter books follow. This book is a good quality chapter book for young readers. I love the little details about animal behaviour that are conveyed in the story. The themes are safe to let her read it by herself. It is about a young gorilla who becomes a big brother, teaches his little sister and learns from his Da about what i. I love this book sharon I love this book. We have been talking about gorillas in our second grade class. This book did arrive with a bent cover which is unfortunate since we read it every day.
He has long glossy black hair and a black shiny nose. But Pongo can't wait to grow up, when he will have a silver back like his father's and a big chest that he can thump. With gentle humor and comfort, this tale reveals how Pongo learns that growing up isn't just about chest-thumping.. The tale of a young, mischievous gorilla who can't wait to grow up Pongo is a young gorilla who lives in the mountains of Africa
