A sharp and refreshingly tight fantasy epic.Blood of Whisperers follows its three damaged protagonists as they navigate the treacherous politics of a fading Empire that is as much Asian as it is European. A rebel captain, an orphan boy and a minister in the usurper's court--the setup is familiar but the execution is far from it.There's plenty. Bloodof Whisperers review penny Farthing A very enjoyable read that kept my interest til the last page. The characters were well drawn and described and there is a gripping story line. However I did struggle to sort out the characters and would have liked a "character description list " at the beginning. For example even after finishing the book, I am still unsure if Monarch and Kat. "A dark and compelling and very human debut" according to Marta. The Empath boy who's learning to use, and misuse, his talent. The rebel girl who pretends to be a boy but learns that her true nature is not to be denied. The man who hides himself from everyone around him and even, perhaps, from himself.Three disparate viewpoints presented with clarity and conviction. I identified with all of them. I saw the
