In this non-fiction saga, the use of deception and threats of destruction are shown to be normal business practices in the global trade industry.The story is told with directness and a bit of humor, with colorful description of life on a tropical island. The beauty and the pain are artistically described in this story, easily shared with readers.This story should be read and caref. "Excellent!" according to kathleen. This is an account of the ordeal of several hundred Vietnamese and Chinese workers who were brought to American Samoa with promises of opportunity and ended up a virtual slaves in a garment factory, stitching clothing for major U.S. stores, clothing that would enter the country duty-free with a "Made in the USA" label. The author's voice is authentic, the story is rich, and Scout, both the fictional character and the boat, would be proud. It is written with pain, humo. A great read! Well written with sadness and humor. An incredible story of how an American territory is used for corrupt business practices while the local government looks the other way, or even helps. This is a story of a few good people fighting against the government, the culture and a local sweatshop to protect hundreds of abused workers. A great read and I highly recommend it!
