What if, in A New Hope, instead of destroying the Death Star, Luke's proton torpedo had malfunctioned? What if, in The Empire Strikes Back, Han had not arrived on that Hoth ice field in time to save Luke from freezing to death? What if, in Return of the Jedi, Leia's thermal detonator destroyed Jabba the Hutt's palace before she could rescue Han? Collected here are three different tales where one thing happens differently than it did in the original trilogy of Star Wars films. The familiar players - Luke Skywalker, Pr

Star Wars gets the "What if?" treatment Though I'm not a big Marvel Comics fan, I used to love their "What If?" series which explored key moments in various characters stories and examined what would have happened if circumstances were shifted ("What if Punisher's Family Hadn't Been Killed?", and so forth). So here we get alternatve universe tales that rewrite (to varying degrees) the narrative of the original trilogy movies. In "A New Hope" (2002), Luke fails to destroy the Death Star when his torpedo is a dud. In "Empire Strikes Back" (2003), Han is too late to rescue Luke from the harsh Hoth elements and sets out to find Yoda himself. T. Aaron Marvin said A million times better than the prequels. I must admit that I approached this series with trepidation. I mean, messing with the Holy Trinity is sacrilege. Even Lucas messed up with the prequels, so how could Dark Horse make a compelling story that we already know by heart? Turns out they could do it by changing an important element and then taking the story off on an entirely new path. The stories still read like the Star Wars you know and love, but they are different. And wonderfully so. I won't ruin any of the three stories by sharing details, but I will say that if you love Star Wars, you should read these stories. Great stuff from incred. Echo said Alternative storylines to the original trilogy. Interesting alternative stories to the original trilogy.I'm not a comic book person. But this is an unusual exception. This graphic novel/comic series poses alternative storylines to the original Star Wars trilogy (i.e. what might have happened if Luke missed at the end of A New Hope.)They are considerably darker than the original trilogy, but the resolutions are satisfying. In particular, the revised "Return Of The Jedi ends very well." What would have happened if Bouschh had dropped that thermal detonator in Jabba's palace?Read and find out!
