Have done extensive hikes in the US and Europe and now being 68 years old, I was particularly interested in the authors adventures going overland, as he calls it, in the western US, one of my favorite areas of this country. I agree that his consistent message of pushing against the world of petroleum powered vehicles a bit tiresome. But his practical recommendations for dealing with the issues that confront him in his travels, especially regarding his trike, are quite helpful, and his adventures have a real ring of authenticity that I found p. "Good job Steve" according to Geo. M.. I have Ben a bike lover since my tricycle days. Now in my 69th year,my current ride is a Rans Vevo, full suspension recumbent that I bought used on Craigslist at least seven years, and many miles ago. A Tadpole from Craigslist Is scheduled for 2015. Steve's great book of three adventures has helped solidify my choice for the future.
