As part of the book description the author or publisher describe Ooga Booga as “one of the first fictional renderings of the #BlackLivesMatter movement told via a speculative, futuristic lens.” It may be nitpicking, but I'm not sure I agree with that. While undeniably speculative and futuristic, Ooga Booga has nothing to do with the movement and making that connection feels more like a marketing ploy than anything else. However, it could be viewed as a way to show why that movement is needed. The ad. I've Never Read Anything Like It (In a Good Way) I really loved this book a lot! I've never read anything like it. It's a sort of sci-fi/ adventure /thriller /romance/ drama mash-up, which sounds crazy -and it is, but it's such an enjoyable read.More than that, it is a major contribution to the current discussion happening in America about human rights, specifically those of black people (and in a way, this could be applied to other racial minorities too).
