"A delightful surprise" according to Constant reader in Nor Cal. I bought "Hollywood Style" because I loved the author's earlier book on California cottages, and had enjoyed reading her work in the SF Chronicle years ago. This book delighted me because it's not at all what one would expect. The homes are lovely, luxurious but liveable. Many are positively modest by current standards. What they have in common is exquisite taste. I especially enjoyed seeing Rose Tarlow's home (and have now ordered her book too). This is a thoughtful, handsomely produced book with marvelous photos.. glenda said current designers. I love this book because it has current designer, big beautiful pictures and is creative and diverse. You may have seen some of the homes in other books but most are not already published repetively. You will find lots of favorite designers in it's content. I don't really thing it is about Hollywood style at all because that brings up images of opulent and over the top glam. This books appeals to now, not the past glam.. "Not up to expectations" according to Ms. Nola Smith. If you're a subscriber to Elle Decor (US); the majority of the homes featured are plucked from Elle Decor as well as Michael S. Smith's book Element of Style. I was totally disappointed as I expected more.
