I knew very little about Spain's conquest of Mexico so I knew very little about Spain's conquest of Mexico so the book was very enlightening. The Spanish were extremely brutal and cruel and set about the local inhabitants for no other reason but to steal their gold and other precious metals, although the inhabitants were grossly brutal too. An interesting and informative narrative. Cortez Was Not A Nice Guy Jon S. I got this book for free on kindle because it was recommended to my by a family member. Wow. The brutality and blood shed caused by Cortez is more than what was taught in History class. It is a story that is hard to wrap your mind around but it is a story that needs to be told.. "Entertaining Summary of a Pretty Bad Guy in History" according to R.H.. Written by John S. C. Abbott in the mid-1800sthis book takes you through the entire history of Cortez in a simple fashion. I have to admit it is written well.split into smaller segments where you can read ten minutes a day easily and feel connected to the upswings and spiraling problems of Cortez's little adventure. What surprises me.after reading the book.is no movie has ever been made of the Spaniard. For reading purposes, I recommend the book for history readers and it would make for an interesting high school project (it is a bit violent but I don't see how you avoid telli
