Great facts and images but confusing format that could use more elephant info at the beginning Clementine Roush I got this book for my grand little ones. They loved the vivid pictures throughout the book and I learned some things about elephants along with them. However, I did find the format a bit confusing. There are lots of instructions and then just pictures at the beginning. I was thinking there was a problem loading! Then I got to the part with the information and it was much better. Generally, with these kind of books, we read the little blurb with the pictures and then make up a story to go with it (makes the book last longer!) I. Daisy said Cute and informative. We have a little elephant lover, so this was right up her alley. There were interesting facts and cute photos, and there was even a little quiz at the end. It was NOT a story, so don't get it if that's what you're looking for.. VampireLibrarian said Love of elephants. My daughter loves elephants! Right now she uses this book to look at the pictures and read some of the facts. I think as she gets older she will use more of the book.
If you are an expert on these subjects then it's unlikely you will find anything new here but if, like me, you enjoy learning unusual facts with interesting pictures then I hope you'll find it worthwhile. Feedback is crucial to any author but please remember that I do have feelings. I've always been a great believer in that whatever the subject, if a good teacher can inspire you and hold your attention, then you'll learn! Now I'm not a teacher but the system I've used in previous publications on seems to work well, particularly with children. This "Elephant" edition includes a selection of those "WoW" facts combined with some pretty awesome pictures, if I say so myself! At the end of each book there is a short "True or False" quiz to check memory recall and to help cement some of the information included in the book. They seem to be one of the few things my memory can actually recall. I'm not sure if it's to do with the shock or the "WoW" factor but for some reason my brain seems to store it for a later date. Don't worry though, it's a bit of fun but at the same time, it helps to check understanding.
