Craig said biggest problem with this book is that it feels like a mid season episode of a mash up between. I think my biggest problem with this book is that it feels like a mid season episode of a mash up between Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica. There isn't a massive amount of world building or backstory, which may or may not be an issue for some. It's jarring if you are expecting a build up towards events, but it is also strangely refreshing to be thrown straight into the action. The main character Vanessa is likable enough, though we see very little about her past beyond recollections and what her crew . "Into Space for Great Adventure" according to Avid Reader. S Y Thompson is a multi-talented author. Now she is taking us into other worlds, via space. And she does a really bang-up job of it. Her description of a certain cold planet had me shivering, but I couldn't stop reading. I highly recommend this book.
