I'm not angry about that though, I did choose to read a mech book after all. It's the "O2" rifle that killed me. Apparently it's good at killing sand worms too because it' "ignites the oxygen in the water molecules". That's the worst idea I've seen since "arctic jungles" (I'm not making this up, the insanity is real: The Academy: Book 1 by Chad Leito). It's both too . P.J. Sleijpen said Good if somewhat predictable story. Good story if a tad traditional. Afterall, young man unjustly imprissoned, finds alien artifact (although technically speaking the human is the alien on the planet in question), and uses it to fight the bad guys is not exactly new. I am a bit worried about the references of Chosen Ones, and long term manipulations by aliens, but that is more because I have never been a big fan of prophesized heroes and conflicts and cunning long term manipulations that rely on too many things happenings.
