The story lines aren't realistic or even sensible and that's why I like them. First there's a clever set-up, then some interesting characters, and then the fun begins without too much fuss. The writing is quite, ahem, clear. But not raw or insulting. The characters don't spend entire chapters debating their possible actions. If a character requires a bit of angst, she/he feels it and the story moves on. The book is complete fantasy, and I love it.
