PH-50-NC said I so-so biography that has been surpassed by more recent Waller bios. This was, I believe, the first biography of Waller (it appeared in the mid-1960s), and it is co-written by Fats' late-career manager (Ed Kirkeby), who had a first-hand perspective on the last 8 so years of Waller's life and obviously spent many hours with Waller himself. It tells's Waller's story reasonably well, S. Frank C. Taglieri said One of the best. Fats Waller was a truly great pianist and organist. He was responsible for teaching Count Basie the Piano and the organ. But early in Fats' life, he had the good fortune to study with the incomparable James P. Johnson, where he started to perfect his style. Great Book, as most of all of amazon books are. Frank
